My name is Wendy Maas and I am the school nurse and school counselor here at Bay Head School. I have been a certified school nurse for over 27 years and became a certified school counselor two years ago. As in any small school, each member of the staff wears a variety of "hats" to help our students succeed. In addition to the above mentioned positions, I also serve on both the 504 Committee and the Intervention and Referral Services Committee. I am the HIB specialist, which means if there is a complaint of bullying, the report is sent to my office, where an investigation is done. My pride and joy has been the development and implementation of two programs that have been in place for a number of years. First, the Bay Head Super Shark recognition program which acknowledges students (or staff) who go above and beyond good citizenship and make a positive difference in our school community. The second program is our Bay Head Positive Partner program. This program pairs students in the upper grades with students in the lower grades for a year-long relationship that enhances positive mentoring, communal awareness and social skills.
